Trusted Solaris 10 ? 0 e
Also heard during the Customer Engineering Conference is the new story about Trusted Solaris.
Trusted Solaris 8 is a product that is different from Solaris 8. Having to work with another product was costly nd difficult for Sun, which is probably one of the reasons why there never was a Trusted Solaris 9.
Solaris 10 includes some of the security features that are used in Trusted Solaris, the biggest of which being Solaris Process Rights Management aka privileges. So that amount of code to push Solaris towards Trusted Solaris has been reduced. Some more code reorganization and you now have the solution : Trusted Solaris 10 is NOT going to be a separate product but is going to be distributed through Solaris 10 software extensions, to install on top of standard Solaris 10. The feature set is of course not impacted, you will still get device control, data labeling,…
