Hello everyone !

This is the second message of this Solaris 10 mailing
list. 2 months after the first, told you that there
would be no spamming !
We ran the first serie of our special Solaris 10
workshops last month. Service Management Facility (
SMF ) was the topic of the day. People have been
overall satisfied I think although I can say that few
expected the extra amount of information needed to
manage the Solaris SMF repository... I have started to
post information about SMF on my website, more will
come later. There will be SMF workshops scheduled for
some time.

The next workshop is in preparation and will be about
Zones a.k.a. N1 Grid Containers. A real-world
practical exploration of everything needed to let your
applications work in zones. The preliminary
description of the Zones workshop is available below.
We will even be able to test Zones with Sun Cluster
Software ! Very impressive technology !

For the rest, I'm using http://learningsolaris.com
more and more to store and aggregate what I know about
Solaris 10. You can subscribe to some topic-specific
RSS feeds if you are into that sort of things. The
rest of this letter will only summarize the big
updates to the various Solaris 10 areas. Click to know
more...

As always, I would be happy to hear about feedback,
new ideas, requests,...

See you soon !

1. The Zones workshop is announced.
-----------------------------------

Objective : Everything you need to know to be up to
speed with one of the biggest ( the biggest? ) new
features of Solaris 10 : Solaris Grid Containers
a.k.a. Zones. So you heard about it, you tried it out
by creating a zone, logging into it and maybe even
running some applications in it. But you are probably
not yet confident/familiar enough with the technology
to start migrating some applications to Solaris 10
zones. This workshop’s objective is to help achieving
this level of confidence. All aspects of zones
management will be covered, including package and
patch management. As an extra, Sun will allow us to
test the Sun Cluster software together with Zones! See
your applications run in zones and automagically
failover together with the zone they reside on ! Far
simpler than ever before…

6. Solaris 10 links.

I think that my directory starts to be interesting for
people looking for S10 information. Feel free to
contact me if you know about other sites.

7. Dtrace day in Belgium !
--------------------------

Sun Belgium is organizing an interesting event on
thursday June 16th. There will be a DTrace
presentation together with demos. After that, a
contest will be started to reward "the most innovative
and creative thinking example that leverages Solaris
10 DTrace functionality." I heard that the award is
worth some thinking...
